ReBoat in the Aeolian Islands: Stakeholder Co-Creation in Lipari / 28-29 September 2026

Stakeholder Co-Creation in Lipari

On 28–29 September, the ReBoat consortium met in Milazzo and Lipari for a two-day stakeholder workshop, organised in collaboration with local partner Eolian ReGeneration.

The meeting brought together researchers, local artisans, schools, hotel owners and tourism operators to explore how tourism-related waste can be transformed into local value and support more circular island economies.

The first day included a visit to the waste storage centre in Milazzo, providing participants with insights into current waste management practices and local waste flows.

The second day in Lipari focused on knowledge exchange and co-creation. Participants explored recycled materials and circular design opportunities, discussed the ReBoat activities with local schools, and worked with tourism stakeholders to identify opportunities for the upcoming pilot demonstration.

The Aeolian Islands are one of ReBoat’s three pilot territories, alongside the Ionian Islands and the Azores. Engaging local stakeholders from the outset is essential to developing solutions that reflect the specific needs, resources and opportunities of island communities.

The ReBoat consortium thanks Eolian ReGeneration and all local stakeholders and partners for their valuable contributions to these two days of collaboration and exchange.
