Circular economy, materials & reuse

YouRban Urban cocreative, sustainable and inclusive ecosystem, for the reprocessing of reinforced polymers on-the-truck (YouRban) https://www.yourban-europe.eu

YouRban is a pioneering initiative that fosters a vibrant urban ecosystem dedicated to the reprocessing and upcycling of materials, with a focus on reinforced polymers from local sources. This project brings together citizens, artists, designers, architects, small-scale producers, artisans, and Urban Factories to create a collaborative environment. It aligns with the New European Bauhaus and the Green Deal, aiming for a balance of aesthetics, environment, sustainability, and inclusion through innovative design and manufacturing. This encourages a rich dialogue across various cultures, disciplines, and demographics.

DeremCo De & Remanufacturing for Circular Economy Investments in the Composite Industry (DeremCo) https://deremco.afil.it/

DeremCo focuses on developing and demonstrating circular economy solutions for composite materials. It uses two pilot strategies: mechanical demanufacturing and hybrid reprocessing, or thermo-chemical demanufacturing and textile reprocessing. The project involves 30 partners from seven European countries and works to create a demand-driven, cross-sectoral system for reusing composite materials in new, high-value products.

Waste recovery & material recycling

EcoReFibre Ecological Solutions for Recovery of Secondary Raw Materials from Post-consumer Fibreboards (EcoReFibre) https://ecorefibre.eu/

EcoReFibre develops optimised and efficient state-of-the-art solutions to extract fibres from wood waste, ultimately increasing available wood resources in Europe through recycling.

wood2wood logo Transforming wood waste into valuable resource for a greener future (Wood2Wood) https://www.wood2wood-project.eu

Europe’s rising demand for wood in buildings and products could lead to a shortage by 2030. This shortage is exacerbated by waste management practices that prioritise landfill and energy recovery over material recycling. Additionally, recycling contaminated wood waste poses challenges. Our focus on transformative wood waste valorisation aims to combat deforestation and advance a circular economy, leveraging waste as a sustainable resource to meet future demands.

reclaim-logo AI-powered Robotic Material Recovery in a Box (Reclaim) https://reclaim-box.eu

RECLAIM envisions the development of low cost, portable, easy to install and increased productivity prMRF, which (soon after the project end) will enable the construction of high-tech distributed waste treatment prMRF-fleets that will allow to achieve full material recovery anywhere, even in the most remote areas. Accordingly, prMRF is expected to have a key role in developing a global, leakage-free circular economy and model benefiting businesses, the society, and the environment.

Circular economy & industrial transformation

H4C Theseus Hub4Circularity (H4C) https://www.theseus-h4c.eu/

It is a European project creating the first "Hub for Circularity" in Greece to promote the circular economy.

Industrial-Urban Symbiosis (I-US) lies at the heart of the Theseus Hub for Circularity (H4C), fostering cooperation between municipalities, regions, and industries in managing resources, waste, energy, water, infrastructures, and networks. This first-of-a-kind initiative in Greece, originating from the Athens/Attica metropolitan area, aims to lead the nation in establishing a robust circular economy model aligned with European strategies under the Processes4Planet (P4P) partnership.

transcience logo TRANSItioning towards an Efficient, carbon-Neutral Circular European industry (TRANSIENCE) https://www.transience.eu

TRANSIENCE will undertake a comprehensive characterisation and assessment of circularity principles and measures visà-vis decarbonisation, by looking at the twin transition of European industries through the lenses of global competitiveness, innovation, and holistic sustainability. It will then produce MIC3, a consistent, fully open-source model ecosystem to assess industrial circularity, decarbonisation, and sustainability.

Island & rural resilience
