ReBoat at Circle the MED 2025 – Showcasing Circular Innovation for Islands
On the 3rd–4th of June 2025, ReBoat joined the 8th Circle the MED Forum in Athens, where the future of island sustainability took center stage.
During the session “session "Empowering Small Islands: Decarbonization, Circular Economy Solutions for Plastic Waste and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the Mediterranean Islands", Gianni Chianetta, Chair of the Greening the Islands Foundation, presented the ReBoat project’s vision and upcoming actions across its pilot sites in the Ionian and Aeolian islands, with mention of potential extensions to the Azores and Gozo. The presentation emphasized the innovative ReBoat mobile plant for waste management and repurposing, highlighting how it supports local circularity, benefits residents and tourists, and strengthens resource efficiency on small islands.
On the first day, the forum featured an exhibition area showcasing EU-funded and co-funded projects. Representatives from EPLO European Public Law Organization and R2M Solution engaged with attendees, sharing ReBoat’s objectives, expected outcomes, and unique approach.
These interactions sparked valuable discussions and promising synergies, reinforcing the project's relevance within the broader Mediterranean sustainability ecosystem.
