ReBoat at the CPMR Islands Commission General Assembly in Cagliari, Sardinia!
On 29 April 2026, the ReBoat project was represented at the CPMR Islands Commission General Assembly in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy), through the participation of the Greening the Islands Foundation. The event convened policymakers, regional authorities, and island stakeholders from across Europe to exchange knowledge on sustainable development pathways for island regions.
ReBoat contributed to Roundtable 2, entitled “Best Practices for a Just Green and Social Transformation in EU Island Regions.” During this session, Guido Broggi (from our partner Greening the Islands Foundation) presented the project’s approach, highlighting the role of circular economy principles, material reuse, and sustainable marine practices in supporting a fair and locally adapted green transition.
The discussion emphasized the importance of context-specific solutions that integrate environmental sustainability with social equity, particularly in geographically constrained and resource-sensitive island territories. ReBoat’s contribution aligned with broader European policy objectives under Horizon Europe, reinforcing the relevance of research and innovation in advancing sustainable coastal and maritime development.
